Priorities — Health Care

Fiscal Year 2008 Through 2010 (October 1, 2007 through September 30, 2010)

SUBJECT AREA 1
Health Care Eligibility and Access

Our vision is that all individuals with disabilities have health care coverage that provides all appropriate care and services.

  1. Individuals with disabilities, including severe and chronic illnesses, who are eligible for public health care programs or are institutionalized, have timely access to affordable health care and long-term supports and services, including Medicaid Waiver programs.
  2. Children in foster care and youth in the juvenile justice system (including TYC facilities) receive appropriate and adequate mental health and other disability-related services.
  3. Individuals with disabilities, including those residing in institutions and those who have severe and chronic illness, who are enrolled in health care programs, receive all appropriate and adequate health care, mental health care services and/or other disability related service, available to them as beneficiaries of those programs including assistive technology.

SUBJECT AREA 2
Due Process and Accountabiltiy to the Public

Our vision is that individuals with disabilities have a role in assuring that their health care program or insurance meets their needs.

  1. Applicants and enrollees of public or private health care programs or insurance receive appropriate notice and appeal rights.
